How to Apply?
1. Work out which of PMI’s four routes you are on, and what you can evidence. 2. Finish your formal agile training first. PMI wants it done before you apply. 3. Create a PMI account and enter your experience, your training and your proof. 4. Submit. PMI selects some applications for audit, and yours may be one.
The PMI-ACP exam
Questions – 120, of which 100 are scored Unscored – 20 pretest items, spread at random and never identified Time – 180 minutes, three hours Break – one, 10 minutes, once you finish and review items 1 to 60
How it is scored, and what PMI does not publish
PMI does not publish a passing score and does not publish a pass rate for this exam. Any PMI-wide figure you see quoted for either is somebody’s estimate being repeated. You get a pass or a fail, with diagnostic feedback on each domain. PMI sets the standard by psychometric analysis, not by a percentage.
What changed in the current exam
The seven-domain exam has retired and a four-domain exam replaced it. New item types came with it, and PMI has revised the outline since. The old exam had no scheduled break at all.
How to stay certified?
Your cycle starts the day you pass and runs for three years. PMI does not publish the renewal fee. You see it when you log in to my.pmi.org. The certification renewal fee is not the membership fee. PMI keeps the two separate. You can renew at any point in the cycle once the units are in.
