- Maintaining requirements for reuse
- Prioritising against value, risk and dependency
- Assessing the impact of a change

Strategy analysis

- Defining the future state and the business need
- Assessing the risks of the change
- Defining a change strategy and the transition
Requirements analysis and design definition

- Verifying requirements, and validating them

- Assessing limitations in the solution
- Assessing limitations in the enterprise around it

Perspectives and underlying competencies

- Business knowledge, tools and technology
Your application and exam day
Everything between finishing the classroom and holding the credential — including the 7,500 hours IIBA asks you to document.- Eligibility: hours, references and the Code of Ethics
- Completing the application, and surviving an IIBA audit
- Booking the exam, and how long to leave
- Case-study questions, and how to read them
- Full-length mocks, then a knowledge-area review of your result
How to apply
1. Create an IIBA profile and open the CBAP application. 2. Log your professional development hours. Keep the certificate — IIBA asks for it at audit. 3. Enter your work history against the knowledge areas, and check the distribution rule before you go on. 4. Pay the application fee. It is non-refundable and non-transferable, and the application expires twelve months after purchase.
The CBAP exam
Competency-based. The questions put you in a situation and test what you decide. Delivered by PSI, either online with a proctor or at a PSI test center. Every other IIBA exam is online-proctored only; CBAP and CCBA can also be sat in person. Offered in English and Japanese. You are expected to be proficient in the language you sit.
How to stay certified?
Your three-year cycle starts the day you pass, not on 1 January. You need 60 CDUs in the cycle, recorded in IIBA's BA Development Log. One CDU is one hour of planned activity, counted in quarter-hour increments. You must record CDUs in more than one category, and respect each category maximum.
Why get CBAP Certified?
Business analysis is the work of finding what an organization actually needs and recommending the change that delivers it. The CBAP is IIBA's evidence that you do that at a senior level.
